my teeny tiny online store firain is taking shape slowly - so slowly - and i am more or less enjoying the process. 'more' because this is a challenging project: i'm on an extremely tight budget (who isn't?) so i'm having to be fussy and selective about who i can stock and this is keeping my aims for the shop very much in focus. i want to really love the homeware and jewellery that i sell. 'less' because it's opening me up to many different opinions and suggestions and whilst i really do value all of them they are whipping up my infj thoughts and leading to a little bit loads of anxiety. i just keep thinking that if you don't try you never know...growth mindset and all that. i'm also in the throws of moving home for the 30th time in my life and, you know, that's always enormous fun...so i'm feeling a bit f l a t. but enough of all that. one thing i'm really enjoying is the discovery of the many wonderfully passionate makers and creators who are out there. instagram has been invaluable in helping me uncover the gems, including the lovely edinburgh-based, spanish-born jeweller and textile designer lia b. the latitude collection is my current favourite. we are going to stock just a few of lia's pieces with the hope of expanding the range in time, but for now let me know if you want a little sneak peak, behind the scenes glimpse into what firain will sell! lia uses semi-precious stones and clay in some of her designs and i'm itching to get my hands on one of the headscarves. follow her on instagram here (and come to think of it, dear readers, follow firain too - i know, so bossy. x jo
